EAST ESSEX FRIENDS

Notes for Walkers

  • Please get to the start about 10 minutes before the advertised time to allow time to change your footwear, book your meal etc.
  • Our walks are circular unless otherwise stated and are in the region of 4 miles in length and last about 2 hours.
  • In the interests of safety the Leader and Back Marker wear reflective yellow vests. Road walking is kept to a minimum but is sometimes unavoidable. We ask that you stay behind the leader and walk in single file, facing the on-coming traffic, following any instructions they may give you.
  • Sorry no dogs
  • Children with parents are very welcome.
  • For those new to walking a reminder to carry rain gear and wear suitable footware. We do stop mid way for a short break so you may wish to carry a drink etc. We ask that you leave nothing behind even if it is biodegradable. "Take nothing but photos, leave nothing but footprints."
  • If for any reason you need to stop please let the Leader or Back Marker know.
  • If you order a meal at the pub please ensure you pay for it before leaving. Do not consume your own food or drinks in a pub or pub garden.
  • All sport and leisure activities have inherant hazards associated with them and rambling is no exception. In spite of the safety of members always being the paramount concern accidents will occasionally occur. It is important therefore that each member appreciates that they have a responsibility to identify hazards and take all reasonable steps to minimise the potential for accidents to arise.
