East Essex Friends are a short walks group within the
Ramblers Association. We provide a year round programme of walks on Wednesdays and Saturdays across Essex
predominantly to the east of the county. Occasionally we arrange group weekends, coach trips and walks in other areas.
Car sharing: In the interest of the environment and economy, please fill as many seats in your car as you can when joining walks, especially those that are some distance away.
New walkers are very welcome to join us as guests on two or three walks, but are expected to join
the Ramblers Association if
they wish to walk regularly with the group and receive a second programme.
Forms are available from Pam and Nick.
Existing members of the Ramblers Association
can receive a programme from Pam at a cost of £2 for the year.
Recruiting new members, both to the Group and to the
Ramblers Association, is important to us. We
encourage our members to introduce someone new to the group and the pleasures of walking during the next year.

CHAIRMAN'S REPORT
I would like to say a big thank you to Chris Barclay for all his work over the last 3 years as Chairman and also to Janet Steeley for her sterling efforts on the committee. Further, I would like to welcome Peter Wrigley and Bill Crossley to the committee.
I know we can rely on our various walk leaders to provide us with an enjoyable programme of walks and hopefully we now have the poor weather behind us and can enjoy some spring and summer sunshine. In addition to our walks programme we are looking to introduce some social events into the calendar – more details in due course.
If I can reinforce Pam Britt’s message about email addresses. We have had to make late changes and cancellations recently and it really does help if we can contact people easily and quickly.
RAMBLES SECRETARY'S REPORT
As always I have to thank my stalwart team of leaders who always manage to come up with a varied and enjoyable programme of walks and I know from personal experience it is not easy!
One or two new leaders have come forward and for that I am truly grateful, now one or two more would ease the load even more. So please let me or anyone on the Committee know if you would be happy to lead a walk.
May I remind you that we all have a responsibility for our own safety. Mud, ice, low branches and holes are hazards so please take care. This also applies to crossing roads. Don’t just cross because the leader has, check yourself that the road is clear.
This programme leads us into Spring/Summer so I hope we are all able to enjoy good weather, good company and interesting walks.
Please support the Thursday Evening Walks if at all possible.
